Christine Murangi is an Associate in the Projects and Infrastructure practice of IKM. She advises a broad range of clients, including project sponsors, government institutions and financial institutions in the power, infrastructure, renewables, oil and gas and mining sectors. Some of the recent mandates in which Christine has been involved include procurement of a Second Nyali Bridge through a PPP structure, advising on a 981.75 MW coal fired power plant, a project for the development of a special economic zone through a PPP structure, and procurement of medical equipment through a managed equipment services (MES) contract.

Career

Christine began her legal career in 2012 as a Legal Assistant at Seven Seas Technologies Group before joining IKM as a Pupil in 2014. She was later appointed as an Associate to the firm’s Projects and Infrastructure practice in 2015 upon her admission to the Bar.

  • Formed part of the IKM team that advised lenders to a project company on the development of a 981.75MW Coal Fired Power Plant in Lamu County, Kenya. 
  • Advised Government on the procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of a proposed Second Nyali Bridge through a PPP arrangement in Mombasa County.
  • Advised the developer of a 40MW photovoltaic (PV) power project in Lamu County in Kenya.
  • Formed part of the IKM team that advised a developer on a 50MW wind farm in Kajiado County in Kenya.
  • Formed part of the IKM team that advised the Ministry of Health, Kenya on the acquisition of medical equipment for 94 hospitals in all the 47 Counties in Kenya, through a Managed Services Equipment arrangement.
  • Formed part of the IKM team that advised a private party on the development of a special economic zone in Kenya through a PPP arrangement. 
  • Advised the Export Processing Zones Authority on proposed strategic interventions to enhance the investment environment and increase domestic and foreign investments in Kenya’s textile and apparel manufacturing sectors. 
  • Advised a private party on the procurement of a transport sector project to be funded through a concessional loan from the China Exim Bank. 
  • Formed part of the IKM  team that advised a private party on the environmental licenses required for an Oil Drilling Project in Kenya.
