Key experience

  • Set-up and streamlined the legal department of one of IKM’s clients in the information technology industry while on secondment there. In that capacity, she reviewed all standard contracts, carried out intellectual property identification and registration, oversaw the successful completion of company restructuring and devised a contract storage and retrieval system. The client was highly satisfied with the execution of the project.
  • Involved in the drafting of employment, consultancy, loan, share purchase and shareholder agreements. Elsie has also drafted human resource, child protection and other types of corporate policies.
  • Carried out legal research in Procurement law, Intellectual Property law, Employment law, Company law and Immigration law.
  • Involved in offering Commercial law advice to clients on the set-up of companies, shareholding structures, corporate legal compliance and the specific registration and licence requirements for doing business.
  • Supported all litigation work as the only legal assistant in Njuguna and Partners Advocates by preparing pleadings and other litigation documents, writing legal opinions and legal correspondence and attending court (mainly the Industrial Court).
