  • John was involved in conducting a factory audit on a Kenyan subsidiary of an international company. This involved an analysis of the Kenyan law on health and safety, food safety and product labelling, product liability, licences and permits, and statutory deductions and limits.
  • John was involved in responding to a due diligence questionnaire to a client who wished to set up and offer cloud computing services in Kenya.
  • John has assisted various NGOs regularize their status in accordance with the provisions of the NGO Act, the Regulations and the policies of the NGO Board. The scope involves carrying out a search at the NGO Board, reviewing and amending the constitution, reconstituting the Board, filing of annual returns and general advice on NGO matters.
  • John continues to advise clients on various aspects of employment law including recruitment and termination of employment, review and drafting of employment contracts and human resources manuals, and advising on all aspects of labour law generally.
  • John makes applications on behalf of clients and follows up on the issuance of work and residence permits, special passes, dependant and student passes, research and internship passes, visitor and business visas on behalf of clients.

  • John advises clients in intellectual property matters including but not limited to registrability of trademarks, industrial designs and utility models, filing applications for registration, renewals, change of name and address, attending to letters from the Registries and research on and drafting of pleadings for mark opposition and expungement proceedings.
  • John advises clients on various options of setting up in Kenya and thereafter assists in the preparation of the registration process including drafting and/or review of the registration documents and following up for issuance of the registration certificate.
  • John assists clients in the drafting and review of various types of commercial agreements.
